Madonna and her toyboy lover Jesus Luz are set to tie the knot in a Kabbalah ceremony, according to the model’s father.

Luiz Heitor Pinto da Luz said:’He is very happy and this ceremony would just confirm that.’

He was replying to reports the couple are due to take part in a Kabbalah commitment ceremony in New York as soon as this weekend.

In the new interview with Brazil’s Quem magazine, Luiz Heitor gave his son’s relationship with Madonna the seal of approval.

He said: ‘My understanding is that this is just a consequence of what is happening. He is already living with her.

‘I don’t know if there will be an actual wedding. From what I have read there could be a sort of ritual, but I don’t know Kabbalah… to know if it’s valid and legal.’

Despite rumours of a split earlier this year, Madonna and 22-year-old Jesus seem to be going strong and have increasingly been seen out and about in New York of late.

The couple met when they were photographed for W magazine in a hotel room in Rio de Janeiro in December by celebrated photographer Steven Klein.

Madonna’s eight-year marriage to Guy Ritchie ended last year, and their decree nisi came through in November.

In the interview Luiz Heitor also revealed Jesus is getting on very well with Madonna’s three children.

‘She has young children and he helps out with them,’ he said.

‘My son is charismatic, he likes children, he has an excellent relationship with her children. He plays football with them.’

But he flatly denied stories the pop star is paying $1,000 a week in English lessons for Jesus – and that she controls his phone usage.

He said: ‘Those stories are lies, made up when the press have no information. He already spoke English long before meeting her, when he lived with an aunt in the US.

‘It’s also a lie that he can’t speak on his cell phone near her.’

In fact, he says even he has spoken to Madonna and she was very pleasant.

‘We’ve already spoken on the phone, in French because I don’t speak English fluently, and she seemed like a normal person,’ he said.

‘She is calm, feminine – I didn’t feel any harshness. She was very polite.’

And he adds that his son is not one to be easily taken by money and glamour.

‘Obviously, he likes what is good, but he is not one to be impressed by materialism,’ said Luiz Heitor.

Meanwhile, it seems Jesus’ career is definitely picking up. He has just done shoots for various international magazines and taken part in a fashion show in aid of HIV research.

According to friends, as well as working he is getting DJing classes and working out two hours a day with a personal trainer in New York.

Three women of color have appeared on the cover of a Vogue Magazine in three consecutive months—Michelle Obama appeared on the March issue of Vogue, Beyonce appeared on the April issue of Vouge, and now Liya Kebede appears on the May cover of the magazine alongside other top models. Liya credits the Obamas for having an influence on diversity in the fashion industry. As she told NY Magazine, “I think it’s wonderful to have a beautiful, elegant man and woman in the White House,” said Kebede. “I think it changes the way we look at things. Already they’re attracting so much attention. I think fashion is following, and I’m really glad that fashion is following what they’re doing and [that] it’s really helping diversity.” Kebede added, “I think there’s a lot more black models working and I think that’s because of having Michelle and Barack out there. I mean there’s been this issue, raised last year—how there wasn’t enough black models on the runways—but I think Barack and Michelle have really helped us, hopefully forever, to get over this hurdle for black models.”

Earlier this month, supermodel Naomi Campbell told the German Glamour magazine that although politically times have changed and a black president is now in power in the United States, the modelling industry is behind the times and black women have to work harder in order to get equal treatment.
What do you think, are black models “over” the hurdle or do they still have a ways to go to get equal treatment? Share your comments below.

Joanna Mazewski – Celebrity News Service EditorCannes, France (BANG) – Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are more in love than ever. The Hollywood couple dampened rumors they are set to split by laughing and gazing lovingly at each other at the “Inglourious Basterds” after-party at the Baoli club in Cannes on Wednesday.

A source said: “Angelina was laughing and smiling and enjoying her conversations. Brad was also smiling, but not laughing. He looked tired, he seemed more reserved than Angelina.”

The couple avoided mingling with many of the other partygoers at the bash in France and their privacy was protected by 10 burly security staff.

The two armed police officers, three bouncers, five bodyguards and their muzzled dogs even made sure the bathrooms were emptied when Angelina or Brad needed to use the toilet.

The pair – who raise six children together – reportedly didn’t leave the bash until the early hours of the morning.

Meanwhile, movie director Quentin Tarantino partied hard at the Parisian-themed party with Mike Myers, BJ Novak and Diane Kruger – who all starred alongside Brad in the thriller.

The source added: “He spent a lot of time dancing on the dance floor by himself. They played lots of cheesy party music as well as popular songs from his movies like ‘Kill Bill’ and ‘Pulp Fiction.'”

Real Madrid believe they will finally complete the record-breaking £75m transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United this summer.

Sportsmail understands that the Spanish giants are sure they have the foundations of a deal in place with the player and with the English and European champions.

United continue to deny that there is an agreement and are sticking to their very public stance that Ronaldo is not for sale.

However, it is also the case that a select group of European super agents are now convinced that United’s resistance to the deal will finally be broken in the coming weeks and that the biggest transfer in English football history will finally take place at the end of the season.

Ronaldo has coveted a switch to the Bernabeu for more than 18 months and was only convinced to give life at Old Trafford another go after the personal intervention of manager Sir Alex Ferguson last summer.

But it was always likely that Madrid would come back for the World and European Player of the Year and at Real, at least, there is now cast iron confidence that Ronaldo will be the latest superstar to wear the all white of Spain’s most famous cub.

Madrid’s proposed deal includes a £75m transfer fee – to include a down-payment of more than ?50m – and wages in excess of £200,000-a-week for Ronaldo. They believe this is now acceptable to United and to the player.

The news will disturb United fans but not surprise them.

Ronaldo has enjoyed a productive season at United since returning from an ankle problem which delayed his start to the campaign but he has not quite been the inspirational, all-conquering force he was when he led the team to the Premier League and Champions League double last season.

Just two weeks ago, Sportsmail revealed that there are increasing fears within Old Trafford that Ronaldo, who cost United £12m when signed from Sporting Lisbon in 2003, will bring his time in England to an end, due in part to the physical treatment dished out by Premier League defenders on a weekly basis.

But it has now emerged that Madrid were sure they had got their man weeks ago.

Back in December, for example, Real director Pedro Trapote gave a recorded but off-the-record interview to Spain’s El Mundo newspaper, which subsequently became public. He said: ‘If you are asking me what we are going to do now, then I would tell you that we have already signed the best player for the summer.

‘It is Cristiano, there is no other. It is better that we do not say anything at the moment though.’

Ferguson reacted with typical venom at the time and stated that United would not ’sell a virus’ to ‘that mob’. However, it now appears Trapote may have been speaking with more confidence than was thought at the time.

Ronaldo is expected to be in the United team that faces Aston Villa at Old Trafford tomorrow and may even play up front with Carlos Tevez as an emergency striker as Dimitar Berbatov is injured and Wayne Rooney is suspended.

With rivals Liverpool playing at Fulham today, United could be two points behind the Merseysiders by the time they kick-off, looking to avoid the ignimony of recording three straight league defeats for the first time since 2001.

But Ferguson hinted last night that he believes his team’s recent defeat at Fulham may turn out to be a good thing.

He said: ‘There are a lot of young players in our dressing-room, so maybe it was a good time for us to get that defeat. It’s a very appropriate thing that it is the Grand National this weekend.

‘You go round those 30-odd fences, hit a fence, a horse falls in front of you, you get obstacles. Our championship is about obstacles but we are a point clear.

‘All we have to do now is know we can trust these players and they can trust each other, they can look round that dressing room and say: “Yes I am glad I have got him in my team”.

‘With that ability and experience we have got of run-ins, we expect them to kick on.’

Reports suggest that the Gunners are ready to step up and make an offer for Fulham’s Brede Hangeland.

Hangeland, who had his real breakthrough this season with Fulham, started his career at local Norwegian club FK Vidar. In 2001 he moved to the top of the Tippeligaen, Viking FK, where he later was promoted to captain. In 2005 he made a transfer to Premier League side Fulham. He has also made 37 appearances in Norway’s national team.

It is reported that Arsenal will make an offer for the centreback in the region of fifteen million pounds. Arsenal had been close to signing Brede Hangeland in the last transfer window, this summer it seems likely the move will happen.

Kris Allen is the new American Idol winner 2009.

Just under 100 million votes — a new world record according to “Idol” — were cast on Tuesday night, but in the end, it was 23-year-old Kris Allen, from Conway, Arkansas who walked home with the title of the Season 8 “American Idol.”

Kris Allen bloomed during the season, gaining more assurance onstage and winning viewers over with his heartfelt vocals, modest demeanor and well-scrubbed good looks.

Kris Allen beamed with disbelief, shook his head as if to reject that this was really happening and struggled to find words.

The fact that he’d just beaten rollicking vocal powerhouse Adam Lambert for the “American Idol” title wasn’t going to sink in quickly for the unassuming underdog from Arkansas. The only downside to this stunning victory: He’d have to sing “No Boundaries” one more time.

Adam Lambert deserves this. I’m sorry, I don’t even know what to feel right now. This is crazy,” said Kris Allen, the 23-year-old from Conway, Ark.

Kris Allen‘s smooth vocals and boy-next-door image propelled him to “American Idol” victory Wednesday, gave him the edge after nearly 100 million viewer votes were cast, turning the theatrical powerhouse Adam Lambert into the most unlikely of also-rans. When the season started,Kris Allen seemed unsure he had a right to take center stage, let alone stand there and snatch victory from such a formidable rival.

During his “Idol” audition last summer, Kris Allen, hands in his pockets and a newsboy cap pulled down around his eyes, was asked by the judges if he was the best singer around.

On May 20, 2009, Kris Allen was declared the American Idol Winner 2009, season 8, becoming the first married contestant to claim the title. During the finale, Kris Allen performed with country artist Keith Urban on Urban’s single, “Kiss a Girl”. Kris Allen also performed “We Are the Champions” by Queen as a duet with runner-up Adam Lambert.

So, the American Idol Winner 2009 is ……..Kris Allen !!!!

Canon and Nikon have both launched new DSLRs.Canon and Nikon have both launched new DSLRs.

 May 21, 2009

These two DSLRs are built to a price – and it shows, writes Terry Lane.

One of the fastest-growing sections of the digital camera market is the so-called entry-level digital single-lens reflex, and $1600 seems to be some sort of sweet spot in the price range at which people trade up from a compact to a DSLR.

Canon and Nikon have both launched cameras into this part of the market. Canon’s new EOS 500D and Nikon’s D5000 distinguish themselves from entry-level predecessors by having a high-definition movie function of limited usefulness. We are yet to be convinced that a DSLR is the ideal gadget for shooting family movies.

The Canon is a 15-megapixel camera and the Nikon makes do with 12.3. In real-world terms there is no difference in image quality. Both are good.

Construction of both cameras is heavily plastic, in the bodies and the kit lenses. Both companies offer two image-stabilised kit lenses covering ranges from 18-55mm and 55-200mm in the case of the Nikon, and 55-250 from Canon. None are ideal, the best being the shorter Nikon and the least satisfactory the long Canon. The Nikons are slow to focus, and neither brand has really effective image stabilisation.

The Nikon has a swivelling LCD and the Canon a larger fixed screen. Both have relatively cramped and dim viewfinders. They are both light and small.

In use the two cameras are similar, being mechanically gritty and noisy, and not having the luxurious feel we associate with the brands; it seems they are made to a price point. We fitted each with better lenses from our Canon and Nikkor optics and then they performed well, producing consistently excellent pictures. The moral of the story: buy the camera body but spend a little more for better lenses.

The D5000 is another camera from Nikon without an in-body auto-focus drive, which means any additional lens purchased must have the auto-focus mechanism built in. This excludes a large number of legacy Nikkor lenses and also raises a question about the value for money of the D5000. Good lenses will be expensive.

We have been comparing camera prices on the website of a national chain of camera shops. Both the new cameras sell for $1600 with the shorter lens, but the incomparably superior Nikon D90 with the same lens is only $200 more. The best always trumps the good.

From the same shop, the gorgeous (but superseded) Canon EOS 40D with a better lens is also $1800. Just a few months ago, this superb combination cost 50 per cent more.

And while you’re shopping, look at the Pentax K20D and the Olympus E30, both offering more to the serious amateur than either of the new cameras. Bottom line: don’t fall for the “newer is better” argument.

'Shot dead' ... up-and-coming rapper Dolla.
Shot dead’ … up-and-coming rapper Dolla.

Up-and-coming rap artist Dolla was shot dead outside a landmark Los Angeles shopping mall yesterday, friends and family of the slain musician were reported as saying.

The Atlanta-based musician was gunned down at the entrance to the Beverly Centre, a popular shopping haunt for tourists, about 3pm local time, the Los Angeles Times quoted Dolla’s publicist as saying.

Los Angeles police have refused to confirm the identity of the 21-year-old victim, who died at Cedars Sinai Medical Centre.

LAPD officer Karen Rayner said a person of interest had been detained at Los Angeles International Airport later on Monday and was being quizzed.

But Dolla’s publicist Sue Vannasing told the Times that her client, whose legal name is Roderick Anthony Burton II, was the victim.

Vannasing said the rapper had been shot in the head while he and another rapper, DJ Shabbazz, waited outside after shopping at the mall.

Vannasing told the Times Dolla had got into a fight with another passenger on a flight from Atlanta to Los Angeles earlier yesterday but did not know if that incident was related to the shooting at the Beverly Centre.

Los Angeles Airport Police officers identified a male passenger matching the description at an airport ticketing desk who was later discovered to be armed.

Chicago-born Dolla had signed a deal with rap star Akon’s Konvict Muzik, with singles including Feelin Myself and I’m Tore Up.
